ABOUT THE MOVIE
|
Kill Jane Doe is a feature length action thriller, filmed in locations in Northern California (San Francisco and other cities in the area) and Las Vegas, NV, with 2nd unit crews filming in New York City and Chicago, IL. The script was penned by filmmaker Francis Hamada in the spring of 2005 with the intention of production commencing in the Summer of 2005. Principal photography started on August 20th, 2005 and ran until October 23rd, 2005. Additional second unit filming continued after the Winter holiday break and second unit photography and post production continued from February 2006-October 2006.
Auditions Auditions were held in Oakland, CA during the Month of July. Over three hundred actors auditioned for the lead roles, however, under a dozen actors were called back for the primary roles. The original name of the production was "The Pandora Project", which was the working title of the film, with the understanding that it would change later. The title "Pandora Project" was already an 'action type' thriller that had been filmed in 1998 by director Jim Wynorski, so the release title reverted to the original script title "Kill Jane Doe".
The Title The title "Kill Jane Doe" was originally thought to capture the "pulp crime drama" feel of the movie and also indicated quickly that the titular character is a person, literally, with no identity. The heroine of the film, Jane Doe, goes by several names, none of which are her true name. In her quest to discover her true identity, she eventually meets up with her old mentor and learns the truth about herself and why everyone seems to be out to kill her. The film is about identity as well as what a person's place in the world can be. |
